Indian Festivals
Indian festivals are colourful, diverse and deeply connected to the country's religion, tradition and culture. Each festival has its own historical and spiritual significance and often includes music, dance, worship ceremonies, food and social gatherings.
Each of these festivals brings people together in cultural celebrations and is an auspicious time of spiritual practice. Many festivals are linked to local traditions, myths and historical events and that is the context we are concerned with here.
Stories have enormous power and are the way we interpret everything around us. The universe of Indian myths is a world of multiple kingdoms, full of sages, gods, demons, nymphs, kings... These stories offer a window into the value and belief system that pervades the world. Drawing on their teachings, we touch on themes of yoga philosophy and work through the archetypes and deeper psycho-spiritual teachings that the myths hide behind the cloak of their allegorical plot.
