Classical Indian Music Concert by Reshma Srivastava & Yiannis Zannis

A night of authentic sounds of the ancient Indian tradition. A mystical, meditative musical journey through the melodies of sitar, the rhythms of the tabla, improvisation and traditional compositions.

Reshma Srivastava, the Indian master of sitar, in a unique performance of classical Indian music at the space of Neda Yoga Shala. Yiannis Zannis will be accompanying her with the tabla.

You will enjoy classical Indian evening ragas (melodic frameworks, performed at night), which aim to the spiritual and physical relaxation, and to the emotional exaltation of the audience. The concert will last around 1 hour.

Reshma Srivastava – SITAR (www.reshmasrivastava.com)

She was born in a family of musicians, in Allahabad, Northern Indi. She started learning the sitar when she was 6 years old. Her uncle, the Professor Satish Chandra Srivastava was her first teacher, while her father, Professor Girish Chandra Srivastava, a distinguished musician and a master in tabla infused her with his passion for music. At the age of 8, Reshma performed in front of an audience for the first time and started playing for the Indian national radio. She completed her musical studies at the University of Allahabad with a Master Degree in Sitar. The talented Indian musician has been repeatedly awarded in Indian for her contribution in music and has performed at many concerts in her country as well as abroad (England, France, Netherlands, USA, Cyprus, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland etc.).

Yiannis Zannis – TABLA (www.piliosangeet.com.gr)

Yiannis Zannis started learning the classical guitar at a very young age, and on 2000 he came min touch with the table and Indian classical music. He stayed and studies in India for over a decade, where he was trained in the classical table repertory, under the guidance of significant masters, such as Kishan Ramdohkar, Ram Kumar Mishra και  Pt. Subhankar Banerjee. He has performed in Indian classical music concerts in India, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Israel and Greece. He has been presenting seminars and leading classes of table and indian music in the Πangea World Music Center and the Labyrinth Musical Workshop in Houdetsi (Heraklion, Crete).
