Hatha Yoga & Live Cello

On Sunday, September 16, we will have the great pleasure to welcome to our studio the amazing Giorgos Tamiolakis. Giorgos will accompany Anastasia Biliri’s Hatha Yoga class with his cello.

We could say that music and yoga have the same goal. That is, to provoke a powerful shift in the human mental state. It is very interesting to explore what happens when these two join forces.

During the first part of our session, the cello with act as an orchestra conductor, and we will become the musical instruments. The music will signal the beginning, the emotion, and the rhythm, and we, acting as one single body, we will synchronize our movement and breathing to its commands. Just like a skillful orchestra, we harmonize and tune into each other, and with his help, we move together, we breath together, we  feel together and we become one.

The second part of the practice will be a lot more gentle physically. The sweet sound of the cello creates an ambience of calmness, and a sensation of relaxation and letting go. The mind stops, as if it surrenders to something else. The perception of time is altered. Defenses drop. The melody gradually reaches deeper and deeper into our soul, and we start connecting effortlessly to what we so frequently miss… The Heart.

We look forward to welcoming you!

This class is appropriate for practitioners of all levels (but not for complete beginners).
