Asanas
At the beginning of each year we start our thematic months. We start with the basics and dive into the exploration of the self with the most accessible tool available to us, the physical body.
It is "so close to us", but how much do we actually know about it? How conscious are we of the feel of our spine, pelvis, use of our waist or abdominal muscles? Are we aware of how we twist, or bend, or move automatically and mechanically?
For one month we work on different categories of postures (asanas), laying the technical foundations for the rest of the year: Hip extensions, torso bends and hyperextensions, inverted postures and arm supports. These positions will be simple tools to help us feel and connect with our bodies. The intense stimuli are always there to inspire and entice the mind to look inward.
Inquiry into the body at the time of exercise, and beyond, can be a wonderful meditation and the starting point for a magical process of self-discovery.
