Yin Yoga Class & Yin Yoga Teacher Training Presentation / Q&A

In Yin Yoga we consciously relax the muscular system using props in order to penetrate deeper into the connective tissue (fascia). When the muscles are relaxed, we then access the yin areas of the body, namely the bones, joints, tendons and fascia especially in the area from the navel to the knees, which is deeply expanded and restored through remaining in one position (posture) for longer than usual.

By learning to "stay" in the posture longer and longer, you offer yourself the time and space to listen and follow the natural structure of your body, while at the same time experiencing on an energetic level the free flow of chi (energy) through the meridians (energy channels) of the body.

The therapeutic dimension of Yin Yoga is clearly reflected in the philosophy that characterizes the postures it utilizes in order to get in touch with your body, your breath, your emotions and your state of mind.

This is precisely why the challenge in a Yin practice no longer lies in the advanced postures, as there is not even the concept of beginners and advanced practitioners. Instead, the challenge you are called upon to manage is surrendering to the Now.
