Yin Yoga & Music Vol.3

The musical-yogic Fridays at the Neda Yoga Shala still go on!

On Friday, December 7, we invite you to the third meeting of the year, where Betty Papadopoulou will be our Yin Yoga class guide, accompanied by the african harp (Kora) of Effie Psiachoulia.

Kirtan will take place after the class is over!

Yin Yoga is a beautiful ceremony. It is decorated with rhythms of different traditions, it creates poetry, it listens to the heart rate and it is dedicated to love.

In Yin Yoga we gently hold the postures for longer than usual, in order to awaken the yin qualities of ourselves, and to allow the space for bringing Awareness to the present moment.

Kora is the harp of West Africa that traditionally accompanies the story telling and singing of the griot. Griots are found in West Africa, and they are part of an oral tradition of historians, genealogists, entertainers, religious singers and so on. They played the role of history keepers, functioning as “human libraries”, since they are constantly on the move. Not only do they have to know their history, but also, the power of the “ancient words” they have pledged to remember.

In this context, the sounds of the kora will accompany an esoteric travel during the Yin Yoga class, as if it were a storytelling session.

Appropriate for all levels.
